VTU Reschedules Exam Yet Again, Leaves Students In The Lurch

VTU Reschedules Exam

VTU Reschedules Exam for the fourth time in a year, citing overlapping of dates as the reason. Visvesvaraya Technological University has postponed it’s December 18 examination to later dates.

As per the new timetable, the Engineering Chemistry Exam for B.E 2010 Scheme has been deferred to December 23, while the Engineering Physics will be held on December 28 and Basic Electronics on January 1, 2018.

This is not the first time VTU is making this mess, VTU had earlier rescheduled 7 papers in it’s November 29 notification, 10 papers on November 28 and 3 on November 24. All mainly included exams under B.E and MBA schemes.

The reason which VTU gave for rescheduling the last month exams was the overlapping of papers and also the clash of dates with Eid-ul-Milad.

This behavior of VTU has left students in the lurch. An Engineering Student Vishal M said, “We are fed up. They are playing with our careers. We will be pressed for revaluation and then the declaration of results will be yet another issue.”

Prashanth Iyer, an another Fifth Semester student from Electronics and Communication says, “Even after facing criticism and creating confusion over exam dates earlier, VTU doesn’t seem to have learned any lesson, how can it be so irresponsible?”

For students hailing from other states, who had planned to go to their states for vacations had to cancel and rebook their tickets.

“VTU is giving overlapping of papers as the reason for shuffling of dates. Why didn’t they realize this when they were preparing the timetable? If we ask they are questioning us only. They are simply troubling students. Many students have already booked their train and flight tickets, now they have to cancel and book again, and it’s not even a one-time change” says the Co-convener of VTU students struggle committee, Sharan Kumar.

Despite several attempts, VTU registrar (evaluation) Satish Annigeri and registrar Jagganath Reddy were not available for comment on the back-to-back postponement of examinations.
